William Reis

William D. Reis, age 89, of Alger, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026. He was born on June 18, 1937, the son of Henry and Flora (Hoffner) Reis, in Saginaw. William was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Following his service, he went into the family business which was established in the 1940's, they owned and operated, Superior Diaries Inc. in Saginaw, MI. They processed their own milk--Guernsey cow only--and ice cream line starting in the 1980's that was distributed to many local homes and establishments by horse and carriage during World War II. Then in the famous mustard yellow Divco trucks, where Billy and sons kept these vehicles on the road, using a lot of Bill's "MacGyver" skills to keep them moving. There wasn't much he couldn't fix.

William liked working on things and keeping himself busy with handyman projects around the house and in their Winter Florida Park. Everyone knew he was coming down the road. They could hear his old Harley Davison 3 wheel cart with his tool box attached before they could see him. He loved cars, raced dune buggies for years over in Canada and had quite the reputation for the crazy American racer. and he and Alice enjoyed square dancing. He was a member of the Secord Lake Eagles for many years.

He is survived by his children: Craig (Kim) Reis, Rick Reis, Randy Reis, and Corey Reis; 2 step-daughters; grandchildren: Nicole Draper, Trevor Reis, Alyssa Reis, Leah Reis, Randy “Jack” Reis, and Taylor; 3 great-grandchildren: Aleya, Payton, and Hayden; 1 great-great-grandson; siblings: James (Lee) Reis, Robert (Cheryl) Reis, and Larry (Linda) Reis; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial services are being planned for a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
