On May 11, 2026, Velma Mae Longstreth, age 86 of Beaverton, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Velma was born on November 18, 1939, in Pontiac to John F. and Iva (Vorce) Methner.

On August 30, 1958, she married the love of her life, Ronald Longstreth Sr., and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. Velma was a devoted member of the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene where she faithfully served for many years. She dedicated countless hours to children’s ministries including Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and Christmas programs, helping guide many to Christ through her compassion and unwavering faith.

Val, known as “Grandma Val” to all, was also a longtime, dedicated worker at Fruchey’s Grocery Store, where she became known for her strong work ethic, determination, and caring spirit. Even into her later years, she could outwork most 20-year-olds and took great pride in serving her community through her work.

Val deeply loved her family and found great joy in supporting her children and grandchildren at their sporting events throughout the years. Her dedication to youth and athletics, alongside her husband Ron, was honored through a sporting facility named in their honor.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 68 years, Ronald Longstreth Sr.; her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Linda Longstreth; and her children: Ronald Jr. (Charity) Longstreth, Danny (Amy) Longstreth, Scott (Tina) Longstreth, and Shawn Longstreth.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jesse Longstreth, Cody Cripps, Austin (Elana) Cripps, Kayla (Mathew) Davis, Russell Longstreth, Reese Longstreth, Autumn (Andrew) Kroening, Drew (Tiffany) Longstreth, Kirsten (Cliff) Bowen, Karly (Briar) Gower, Dallas (Jake) Marsh, Justin (Chelsey) Longstreth, Ashley (Ben) Longstreth, Shane (Lauren) Longstreth, Scott Longstreth, Kyle Longstreth, and Laken Longstreth, along with many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
