Shirley Guernsey

Shirley Elaine Guernsey, age 94, of Beaverton, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was born on April 5, 1932, the daughter of Cecil and Marie (Havens) Crosby, in Hope, MI. On August 27, 1953, she married the love of her life, Max Guernsey. Together, they shared 69 years of love and cherished memories until he preceded her in death in 2022. She was an active member of the Edenville Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she was a self-taught organist and pianist for several years. She was active in supporting and her husband while he founded his company, Guernsey Electric, working wherever she needed him to. Shirley enjoyed canning, gardening, and sewing, often making most of the girl’s clothes in their younger years.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Elaine Guernsey, Dottie Prince, and Marilyn (Tom) Harrell; son: Gordon (Tana) Guernsey; grandchildren: William (Lisa), Angela, Randy (Trista), Julie (Cecil), Chelly (Brenden), Dalton (Nicole), Zachary, and Nicholas; great-grandchildren: Ashlynn, Lacie, Alivia, Elizebeth, Havanna, McKinley, Charli, Tyler, and Amari; siblings: Doris Steele and Jimmy Crosby; sister-in-law: Coralee Foster; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Max; sons: Steven Guernsey and Mark Guernsey; daughter-in-law: Tremell Guernsey; grandson: Cristopher Harrell; parents: Cecil and Marie; and siblings: Rose Steele, Wendell Crosby, Carole Bradshaw, and Marlene Schultz.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Edenville Seventh Day Adventist Church.
