Rodney “Rod” Hugh Roehrs, 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories. Rod was born on October 6, 1953, in Midland, to Herbert and Jacqueline (Brown) Roehrs. He grew up alongside his siblings, Greg (Jeannette), Jeff (Tammy), and Kelly (Barbara) Parks. A proud 1971 graduate of Beaverton High School, Rod went on to answer the call of duty by joining the United States Navy. He honorably served his country for six years, during which he deeply enjoyed traveling the world and exploring many different countries. Upon returning home, Rod built a beautiful life. On September 22, 1978, he married the love of his life. Catherine “Cathy” Furlo. Together, they shared decades of love and devotion. Rod went on to dedicate many years of hard work to Dow Corning, eventually retiring from the company. Post retirement, he remained deeply rooted in his community as an active and proud member of the Beaverton Lions Club.
An avid outdoorsman and craftsman, Rod found great joy in woodworking, turning raw wood into beautiful creations. He was also passionate about hunting and fishing, and was a die-hard, lifelong fan of both the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. At home, Rod was the reigning Master of Trivia, a title he successfully defended ever year at the family’s annual Christmas parties. Above all, Rod was a devoted family man. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was time spent with those he loved.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife: Cathy; his siblings; children: Jennifer (Jay Tucker) Roehrs, Eric (Jessi) Roehrs, and Kristi (Justin) Owens; grandchildren: Steven (Shelby) Roehrs, Christian (Erica) Grew, Monica Grew, Orion (Allisa) Grew, Landen, Murphy, and Zella Owens; great-grandchildren: Lilliana, Castiel, Emersyn, Finnley, Carly, and Cody Grew.
Per Rod’s wishes, a gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 12:00-4:00 P.M. at The Beaverton Lions Building. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rod’s memory to the Toni & Trish House in Auburn, Michigan, in gratitude for the exceptional care they provided him, or to the University of Michigan Sarcoma Research Fund.
