Richard "Dick" R. Briggs, age 83, of Gladwin, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. He was born on January 22, 1942, the son of Rollin and Ruth (Campbell) Briggs, in Bay City. On April 10, 1998, he married Carol Fedewa. Together, they shared many years filled with love and cherished memories.
Richard attended Ferris State University for two years. In 1964, Richard started his career at Dow Chemical, and worked for many years as a Multi Craft Carpenter until his retirement in 1995. While working at Dow, Richard was on the Executive Board for 3 consecutive years with the United Steel Workers Local 12075. After retiring, He moved to Mid Forest Lodge in Roscommon County where he was on the board of directors for three terms. An involved member of his community, Richard was active in both the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge.
Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and trail riding—he enjoyed many long rides on the Mid Forest Lodge trails with his wife and 3 dogs. He enjoyed dog walks with his 3 Airdales: Lacey, Reggie, and Murdock (one at a time).
He is survived by his beloved wife: Carol Briggs; children: Terri (Chad) Forster, Jennifer (Chris) McKellar, Emily (Merv) Horkoff, Diana (Robert) Kozak; grandchildren: Riley (Michelle) Dull, Bailey (Brad) Riedinger, Arik Forster, Morgan (David) Hannar, Kennedi (Luis) Korpal, Camryn McKellar, and Ella and Molly Kozak; great-grandchildren: Tallulah Korpal and Holland Riedinger; brother: Jim (Melody) Briggs, and sister-in-law: Kathy (Rick) Hallisky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollin and Ruth.
