Mary Kareus

Mary F. Kareus, age 93, of Gladwin, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born on September 2, 1932, the daughter of Raymond and Mary (McCauley) Codden, in Cadillac. On April 11, 1953, she married the love of her life, Leonard Kareus. Together they shared 69 years filled with love and cherished memories until he preceded her in death in 2022. Mary loved keeping herself busy playing bingo, sewing, gardening and doing other yard work.

She is survived by her son: Daniel (Mary Lou) Kareus; grandchildren: Jeremi (Jasmine) Kareus, Ryan Kareus, Janet (Tony) Blackall, Thomas (Danielle) Kareus, and Matthew (Jacqueline) Kareus; great-grandchildren: Carter, London, Kinsley, Connor, Ethan, Alex, Sierra, Zoe, Scarlett, and Axel; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Leonard; parents: Raymond and Mary; son: Leonard; along with her siblings.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M until the time of service. Visitation will also be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. She will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
