Marjorie Ann Avery, age 86 of Gladwin, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1940, the daughter of Gerald and Eathel (Gaylor) Dockham, in Imlay City, Michigan. In 1956 Marjorie married the love of her life, William Avery. Together, they shared 66 years filled with love and cherished memories until he preceded her in death in 2023.
Marjorie was a pianist that accompanied many band students to competitions. She guided many girls through Girl Scouting including her own daughters. Marjorie was a 4H leader, council member and judge over the years. Marjorie was very crafty, frequently spending her time knitting, crocheting and painting. She also loved spending time working in her gardens.
In 1989, Bill and Marjorie bought property in Gladwin on Wiggins Lake and started spending weekends up north until moving to Gladwin permanently in 1991. After the permanent move Marjorie became a very active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her brother Mike Dockham and her children: Robin (Steve) Smiley, Brenda Weir, Bonnie Bos; grandchildren: Eric, Danny (Nichole), (Becca), Jordan, Beth (David), Lindsay (Paul) and Brenton (Alyssa); great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Isabella, Tanner, Lennex, Ryder, Jozie, Weston, Natalie, Charlotte, Chloe and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: William; daughter: Rhonda; grandson: Nathan; parents: Gerald and Eathel and brothers: Raymond and Brian.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin, Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Visitation will also be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 2:00-6:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Paul’s Episcopal Church in honor of Marjorie.
