She was born on May 27, 1928, in Jackson, MI. Marilyn was the daughter of Frank and Mabell (Maxted) Wortman. Marilyn grew up in Jackson and graduated from East Jackson High School. On November 1, 1945, she married Robert Bienz and together they shared over 80 years.
Marilyn and Robert moved around the state throughout the years as a result of Robert’s job. In 1952, they moved to Mason, MI where they had their three children and spent some time before moving again in 1955. They moved to Averill, MI and in 1962, Marilyn started working at Midland High School Cafeteria. In 1968, Dow High School was built and Marilyn started work there as the Cafeteria Supervisor. They moved again in 1976, to Gaylord, MI where she found work as an Administrative Secretary at MK1 Manufacturing. They retired and in the late 1990s moved to Gladwin to be closer to their grandchildren, family, and friends.
Marilyn came from a family of 8 siblings whom she cherished. She loved a celebration, always enjoying the chance to get together with her family. Marilyn loved traveling and reading. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Lions, the Pistons, and the Red Wings. Marilyn and Robert were members of the Wagarville United Methodist Church where they worked on the flower gardens there. Most of all, she loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Robert; children: Craig (Kristin) Bienz and Nancy (John) Eaton; daughter-in-law: Elva Bienz; grandchildren: Kimberly, Mark, Laura (Jason), Claudia (Ryan), and Rachel (Gary); great-grandchildren: Jacqueline, Samantha, Emily, Kalaena, Brooks, and Imogen; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
