We are saddened to share the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret Kay (Mitchell) Broka, who passed away on October 13, 2026, at Horizon Senior Living Center in West Branch, Michigan, at the age of 86.

Margaret was born to Laura (Grey) and Herman Mitchell on May 2, 1940. She grew up in a warm and loving home with her brother, Richard, and her sisters, Joyce, Ruth Ann, and Eleanor. Her family and the memories they shared remained cherished throughout her life.

After graduating from Beaverton Rural Schools in 1959, Margaret married William Broka. Their love story began during their high school years and grew into 67 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and countless memories.

Margaret was a proud and loving mother who took great joy in watching her children build lives and families of their own. Perhaps one of the greatest gifts her children gave her was her nine beloved grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness and held a very special place in her heart.

Margaret loved and cherished her grandchildren: Erik, Chad, Nicole, Kelsey, Kiersten, Adam, Alicia, Austin, and Mason. They will fondly remember her homemade cookies and potato salad, along with the fun and laughter they shared playing board games with her. Her family grew even more with the arrival of 11 great-grandchildren, adding another generation of love and joy to the family she treasured so dearly.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Herman Mitchell; her in-laws, Harold and Orrine Broka; her brother, Richard Mitchell; her sisters, Joyce Hughes and Ruth Ann Beebe; her brothers-in-law, Jerry Hughes, Glen Beebe, Mike Breault, Dave Broka, Mick Broka, and Dean Broka; and her sisters-in-law, Christa Broka and Lynn Broka.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William; her four children and their spouses, Jeff (Sue) Broka, Scott (Kathleen) Broka, DeAnna (Kirk) Schnepp, and Kurtt (Victoria) Broka; her nine grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; her baby sister, Eleanor Breault; her sister-in-law, Sandra Broka; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, and extended family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a family she was immensely proud of. The memories she created, the traditions she shared, and the love she gave will be treasured for generations to come.

In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate and honor her life will be held at a later date.

Those wishing to honor Margaret’s memory may make memorial contributions to Dale United Methodist Church or Compassus Hospice in West Branch, Michigan.
