Luella Zeitz, age 94, of Gladwin, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born on May 11, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Lena (Fischer) Pahl, in Pontiac, MI. On December 31, 1949, Luella married the love of her life, Reinhold Zeitz, in Gladwin. They shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories until his passing in 1996.
Luella had a passion for gardening, crocheting, knitting, baking, and going for car rides in her neighborhood. She dedicated many years to the Rotary Club in Gladwin preparing meals following in the footsteps of her mom. Most of all, she cherished time spend with her family and her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was Grandma Lou (G. Lou) or Aunt Lou to more than just her family. There was always a hot meal and an open door to anyone that knew her. She will always be remembered as someone that loved unconditionally, never had a bad word to say, and was always willing to help with anything.
She is survived by her children: John (Courtney) Zeitz, James Zeitz, Jeannie Zeitz, Jackie (Greg) Govitz, and Joseph (Mary Beth) Zeitz; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way; siblings: Bev (Lynn) Pennock, Jerry (Sally) Pahl, and Marilyn Carroll; sister-in-law: Maurece Pahl; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Lena; husband: Reinhold; sister: Laura Hill; brother: Donald Pahl; and brothers-in-law: Jim Hill and Pat Carroll.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Gladwin. Visitation will take place from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice of West Branch and Gladwin Council on Aging.
