Luann Follett

Luann Marie Follett, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at her home in Beaverton, Michigan.

Born on October 25, 1953, in Owosso, Michigan, Luann was the daughter of the late Murray "Doug" Douglas Martin and Edna May (Beardsley) Martin. She was a proud graduate of the Owosso High School Class of 1971. Following her marriage, Luann relocated to Upstate New York, where she spent many years raising her family and working in hospitality before eventually returning to her Michigan roots.

Those who knew Luann knew that her heart belonged to her "babies"—her Golden Retrievers. She took immense pride in raising them, and her dogs—Lizzy, Maverick, Doug, and Beasley—were the center of her world. They will miss her companionship tremendously.

Luann’s memory will be cherished by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her children: Andrew B. Follett of Flagstaff, AZ and Lisa M. Follett of Massena, NY; grandchildren: Kirra, Miya, and Merrik Follett; chosen grandchildren: Nicole and Annamarie D’Aurizio; siblings: Linda Martin of Owosso, MI and Dennis Martin of Mount Pleasant, MI; dear friends: Orlando Zuniga and Guy and Debbie Fregoe; extended family: many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as the D’Aurizio and VanWrinkle families.

Luann was preceded in death by her parents, Doug and Edna Martin; her brother, David Martin; and her life partner, Walt VanWinkle.

Luann will be remembered for her independent spirit and the wagging tails that always greeted her at the door.
