John "Mike" Greer II

John Mitchel “Mike” Greer II, age 66, of Gladwin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He was born on July 10, 1960, the son of John Greer I and Phyllis Pauley, in Pontiac. Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Following his service, he worked as a carpenter until his retirement. On March 26, 1983, he married Catherine Lynch and together they shared 43 years. Mike was a true outdoorsman, often spending his free time hunting and fishing. He enjoyed staying busy working on projects.

He is survived by his wife: Catherine; children: Casey (Tom) Schwartz, Ashley (Cameron) Weins, and Haley (Michael) Azar; granddaughter: Ivy Azar; siblings: Bill (Corinne) Greer and Tonya Bean; nieces: Athena, Jenna, Justine, Makayla, and Juliet; nephew: Kayden; along with several close cousins that he would frequently spend his time with.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John Greer I and Phyllis (Bud) Smith; and brother: Jayson Smith.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Grace Christian Church in Gladwin, from 11:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. with a small memorial service at 12:00 noon and lunch to follow.
