John Janice Jr.

John James Janice Jr., age 91, of Gladwin, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026. He was born on July 6, 1935, the son of John and Irene (Jezewski) Janice, in Detroit. On June 14, 1980, John married the love of his life, Avis MacInnes. Together, they shared 21 years filled with love and cherished memories until she preceded him in death in 2001. John worked as a machine operator at Northern Tube in Pinconning for several years until his retirement in 1999.

John was a man of faith and enjoyed reading his bible. He a longtime member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. He loved crosswords. John was an umpire and later in life, loved watching college softball. He loved spending time with everyone at the Family Diner and spent a lot of mealtimes there.

He is survived by his children: Mark Janice and Mary Willan; step-sons: Jason MacInnes and Joe (Cathy) MacInnes; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings; special friends: Glenn (Wendy) Lampela and their daughter, Emily; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Avis; son: Mike Janice; step-son: Randy MacInnes; and 6 siblings.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time. He will be laid to rest at Ridge Cemetery in Gladwin. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
