JoAnne Clagg

JoAnne Clagg, age 67, of Gladwin, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

JoAnne was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, faithful servant, and the glue that held her family together. Her deep love for Jesus guided the way she lived and loved others. A fierce prayer warrior, she was always there to pray, offer encouragement, or simply show up when someone needed her. She cared for others selflessly and faced life’s challenges without complaint.

To JoAnne, family was never defined by blood alone. She welcomed people into her life and heart without hesitation, making each one feel loved, accepted, and as though they had always belonged. She had a smile that made you feel at home and a caring and thoughtful nature that made everyone feel important.

JoAnne was the first person her loved ones wanted to call, whether the news was joyful, difficult, or simply part of an ordinary day. She celebrated their happiness wholeheartedly, carried their burdens alongside them, and made even the everyday moments feel worth sharing. She was a constant source of love, strength, comfort, and encouragement, and she was the best Mema and Mimi anyone could ask for.

For 28 years, JoAnne served as a school nurse in the Beaverton/Gladwin school community. Caring for others was not simply her profession; it was who she was. She could always be counted on to show up with compassion and love.

More than anything, she loved being surrounded by her family and creating memories with the people in her life.

JoAnne shared nearly 39 years of marriage with her husband, Bud Clagg. She is also survived by her children and their families: Misty Murphy and her children, Ronnie Richardson, Cade Murphy, Reuben Adams III, and Gabe Murphy. Ryan and Amber Murphy and their son, Aiden Murphy; Randi Murphy and Josh Draves and her children, Ariah Bryant and Asher Draves; Christy Clagg; Tasha Clagg and her children, Jordan Sian, Brendan Sian, and Cameron Sian. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends who were blessed to be welcomed into JoAnne’s family and heart.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice VanBuskirk; her father, Leo Sheets; her sister, Shelly Tucker; and her beloved grandson, Cameron Murphy.

JoAnne’s family will deeply miss her steadfast faith, selfless heart, comforting presence, and the way she made every person feel seen and loved. Her legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love will continue through the many lives she touched and the family she held so closely together.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Visitation will also be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Beaverton. She will be laid to rest at Geneva Township Community Cemetery, in Coleman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene Endowment Fund.
