Jim Orvis, 72, of Gladwin passed away on October 23, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born January 24, 1954, to Norman Edward Orvis and Freda Loretta Boyer. Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years Judy, and his daughters: Christy and her husband, Eric; Heidi Palmer and her husband, Billy; Heather Edgar and her husband, Jeremy; and April Sischo and her husband Bo. He also leaves behind a bonus daughter Lisa Phillips and her husband, Travis. And do not forget about his beloved dog Princess Rosie.

Jim was also a part of the lives of 12 grandchildren, 2 bonus grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, who will carry his memory forward for years to come.

Jim was a natural storyteller who knew how to keep people listening and bring a little laughter into the room. Whether sharing a story, recalling a memory, or adding his own special touch to a tale, Jim had a way of making moments memorable. His stories and the laughter that came with them will live on through the family and friends who knew and loved him.

When he wasn’t sharing stories, Jim enjoyed working with wood and building picnic tables, making wine and BBQ sauce. He also enjoyed shooting his cannon, because sometimes you just need to make a little noise.

Jim leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories and laughter. Though he will be deeply missed, the stories he shared, and the moments spent together will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who loved him. His presence can never be replaced, but the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of his family.
