Jerome E. Allen, age 90, of Gladwin, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was born on December 30, 1934, in Belleville, Michigan, to Joseph and Pearl Hazel Allen. He had a passion for the outdoors and worked as a forester for many years. On November 24, 1999, he married his wife Connie, and together they shared a life full of love, adventure, and treasured memories.
A man of many passions, Jerry found joy in keeping both himself and Connie active. He found joy in camping, hiking, backpacking, and canoeing. He proudly served as a caretaker for the 210-mile Midland to Mackinaw Trail, helping the scout’s preserve and maintain the trails beauty.
Jerry was also deeply committed to youth and community. He was involved in scouting for over 60 years, serving as a Scoutmaster and Commissioner. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 171 in Gladwin, where he served as Chaplin, alongside his friends and fellow comrades. Jerry was also a devoted member of Secord Baptist Church for nearly 40 years.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Connie Pausits-Allen; sons: Robert (Cathye) Allen of New York, Timothy Allen (and Lynn Smith) of England, and Matthew Allen (and Jennifer Tucker) of Chelsea, MI; grandchildren: Ashley, Leah, Phoebe, Mackenzie, Meghan, and Zurie Hazel; great-grandchildren: Jalyn, Abigail, and Emmie; stepchildren: Brenda Bergman of Hispania, MI, Tina (Patrick) Menhennick of Marquette, Fred Sehl (and Brenda Beard) of Iowa; siblings: Keith Allen, Cliff (Inge) Allen, Lois (Leon) Freeman, Sharron Sheridan, Beth (George) Miller, and Neil (Nora) Allen; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Hazel Allen, and his sister, Viola Allen.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Secord Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. that same day. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
