Harry R. Stewart, age 83, of Gladwin, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. He was born on April 21, 1942, the son of Robert and Margaret (Sternberg) Stewart. In 1988, he married the love of his life, Margaret Hamilton. Together, they shared 37 years filled with love and cherished memories. Harry was a volunteer for the Fire Department in Houghton Lake and worked with the Sheriff’s Office in Denton Township. Harry owned and operated Stewart’s Foodland for many years until he retired in 1996.

Harry enjoyed wood-working and working with his hands. He even rebuilt and remodeled their kitchen. Harry was a farmer and master lawn mower. He was an avid dog owner which became an important part of his life this past year.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Margaret Stewart; daughter: Sarah (Josh) Fisher; step-daughter: Michelle (Abdel Jabber) Grimmett, and Michael (Andrea) Grimmett; grandchildren: Morgan, Ashley, and Amber; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister: Jean Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA in honor of Harry. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
