Gerald Kozlowski

August 19, 1936 — January 9, 2026

Gerald Kozlowski, age 89, of Gladwin, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026. He was born on August 19, 1936, the son of Walter and Genevieve (Bartokowiak) Kozlowski, in Dearborn, MI.

Jerry was a gardener, an artist, a fisherman, and a repairman. His hands were either covered in soil, paint, tying up fishing line, or fixing sewing machines. He loved his coffee and lemon crueler donuts, talking politics and history, and telling stories about his life. He was a Marine, and from his travels he loved Japan and the Catalina Mountains in Arizona. He baked the most wonderful strawberry rhubarb pies and loved to shoot pool. He had a beautiful laugh and a warm smile, bringing comfort and joy to those around him. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His favorite record was Madame Butterfly, favorite song was I am I Said by Neil Diamond, and favorite flower was the Bird of Paradise. “Jestes Moim Sloncem” or as we say in English, “You Are My Sunshine.” His wish for last words was “The Universe resounds with the joyful cry, I am.”

He will be deeply missed by Tessa Rae Kozlowski, Garrett Kozlowski, Melody, Carly, Marisa, Sophia, Leo, Mikey, Sasha, Axel, Amity, Rayella, Cal, Christine, and Colleen.

He was preceded in death by his dearly loved brother: Butch; free-spirited daughters: Kathleen and Lynn; and loving son: Matthew. Together at last dancing among the stars.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
