Emma Otto

Emma A. Otto, age 97, of Beaverton, formerly of East Detroit, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026. She was born on December 11, 1928, the daughter of Earl and Emmy (Fredriksson) Raymond, in Detroit. In 1947, she married the love of her life, John Otto. Together they shared many years filled with love and cherished memories until he preceded her in death in 1992.

Emma worked in Real Estate and Life Insurance before becoming a Caregiver in her 70s. She participated in Meals on wheels from the age 80-85, which lead to her being recognized in the Detroit News with an article and photo. Emma was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for 20 years and worked with them to complete a lot of volunteer work. She was a generous soul and loved to crochet hats, scarves, and blankets to give to anyone she met. Emma was always happy and very social, she loved to talk to anyone who was willing to listen. She was always active, even in more recent years, she always said you have to keep moving. She had deep love for all little ones and they adored her. She especially liked butterflies, enjoying their beauty in nature and in every way she could.

She is survived by her children: Larry Otto, Marilyn (Bob) Thompson, Patrice (Clark) Comstock, Marie Otto, Sarah Fredriksson, Tim (Sharon) Otto, and Matt (Adrienne) Otto; grandchildren: Jason, Rick, Joe, Donovan, Stephanie, Jessica, Lindsey, Rob, Nate, Matt, Katie, Danny, Hannah, Rachel, Emma, and Julianna; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister: Marilyn Larsh; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: John Otto; daughter: Amy Otto; parents: Earl and Emmy; siblings: Gina and George; and great-grandson: Jonathan
