Our beloved father, Duane “Fuzzy” Robert Govitz, a true gentleman and devoted dad, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the age of 75. More than just a father, he was our cherished friend, trusted confidant, and unwavering hero. Through his example, he taught us the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the true meaning of love. We will forever treasure the moments we shared with him, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Duane was a Proud U.S. veteran, serving in the Army during the Vietnam War. After Duane's time in the Army, he worked as a journeyman pipe fitter for Dow Chemical.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Amy J. Cogswell; son, Duane K. Govitz; daughter-in-law, Joy Govitz; step-grandson, Brendan Schriber; brothers, Ken Govitz of Beaverton, John Govitz of Gladwin, Dick (Carol) Govitz of Beaverton; sisters, Betti (Jack) Scully of California, and Sharon Mishler of Gladwin. Dad found joy in fishing, hunting, tending to his yard, and embarking on road trips across Michigan—passions that reflected his adventurous and caring spirit.
He is preceded in death by his significant other, Terry Govitz; parents, John and Elizabeth Govitz; siblings, Virgina Govitz, Louise Johnson, Jean Harger, and Lenard (Buck) Govitz.
