Dale Puttonen, age 75, of Gladwin, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Born on August 4, 1949, in Hibbing, Minnesota to Arthur and Anna (Kral) Puttonen, Dale proudly served in the United States Army. After his military service, he continued to dedicate himself to fellow veterans through his work with the VFW and as a veteran representative for many years until retirement.
Dale lived across various places in the U.S. before finding his permanent home in Gladwin in 2000. In 2001, he married the love of his life, Sherry (Nowak) LaVallier, and together they shared many years of love and cherished memories. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching westerns on TV. Dale loved cruising around Smallwood Lake on their pontoon.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Sherry; sons: Chad and Cory Puttonen, John (Kat) and Jumbo (Kellie) Lavallier; daughters: Leanne (Mel) Birchmeier and Melissa LaVallier; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; sisters: Bonnie, Nancy (Mark), Linda (Jim), Jean (Tim); brother: Curt (Shelaine); and brother-in-law: Bill Tomczyk; sister-in-law: Carol Nowak; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane.
