Clare Alan Breault (also known lovingly as “Dewey”), age 72, a lifelong resident of Gladwin, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Stanford Adult Care Lodge of Gladwin. He was born on September 8, 1953, the son of Frederick Wayne and Agnes Eunice (Newman) Breault. On November 8, 1975, he was united in marriage to Ruby Ruth (Kelley) Breault, in Gladwin. Together, they shared 44 years filled with love and cherished memories until she preceded him in death in 2019.
He was a man of many talents and skills. As a young man he worked for Dewey and Lottie Ogden at Ogden’s Market, where he earned his lifelong nickname and also worked for lifelong friends, Bob and Louise Rebandt. He drove tow truck and logged many of the woods in Gladwin County. He also cut trees for family, friends, and acquaintances throughout the years. In 1974, he began his career at Gladwin Community Schools where he retired as Head Mechanic after 29 years of service in 2003. One of his greatest accomplishments as such was turning Ruby’s old bus into the bright blue Gladwin Community Schools wrecker, fondly named Ole’ ruby. In 1995, he also became the proud owner of Mid-Michigan Auto Glass, where he serviced the community for 17 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed, among other things; bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, and wood-working.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter: Angela (Steven) Hatt; grandson: Joey (Sami) Faber; great-grandchildren: Cody and Ryder; siblings: Marilyn (Jack) Milligan, Ralph (Sharon) Breault, Blaine Breault, and Vicki (Jim) Wray; and sister-in-law: Carolyn (Larry) Breault.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frederick and Agnes; in-laws: Herbert and Helen Kelley; brothers: Lawrence “Larry” Breault; brother-in-law: Albert Kelley; and beloved wife: Ruby Breault.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.
