It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn “Carrie” Yager. Carrie was a beloved mother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her. The youngest born in 1963 to Marlin Yager and Marlene Crosby, Carrie was a creative soul with a talent for painting, drawing, and cooking. Her infectious laughter and beautiful smile is what is most remembered and reflected by those who knew her.
As a single mother, Carrie worked tirelessly to provide for her children, Lynnshea Cook and Justin Willey, and she was a pillar of strength and a shining example of resilience and kindness. Carrie was also a well-known figure at the Beaverton Tavern, where her culinary creativity shone through her unique Mexican menu, especially the famous giant wet burrito.
Her compassion and generosity were truly unmatched. She opened her home to those in need of one, offering them a motherly advice and support to many who called her mom to many who were not her children but called her mom. Her home was always open to her children’s friends as a place parents could trust was safe. Even the cheerleading crew was welcome for practice. Always making sure the girls were well-fed before games.
She is survived by her father, Marlin Yager, her brothers, Brian Yager and Jim Yager, and her children. Her legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
