Bennett L. Swinehart, 67, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Midland, Michigan. Ben fought a long battle after sustaining massive injuries in a car accident almost 4 years ago, but now is pain free at home with his savior; “absent from the body; face to face with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8. Ben was born in Flint, Michigan, on May 8, 1950, the son of Paul Sr. & Dorothy (Kentworthy) Swinehart. On January 2, 1971, he was united in marriage to MarryEllen Wade in Gladwin, Michigan. She predeceased him in 2013. He is now reunited with his love. Ben was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam Era. He loved his country, family, and his 2 dogs: Mitzi & Maddie. He spent much of his healthier days on the golf course or in his garage doing woodwork. Ben loved telling stories and playing jokes. He was a very generous man and would give the shirt off his back to help people. He was so proud of his grandchildren and would brag about them to anyone who would listen. He is survived by his 2 children: Kellie (Steve) Sherlock, Jason (Tammy) Swinehart; 4 grandchildren: Brenna & Alyssa Sherlock, Zachary & Erin Swinehart; brother: Gerald (Pam) Swinehart of Fairgrove; and his dear friend/ sister in-law: Helen (Wade) Kilborn of Bay City. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Edith (Swinehart) Palmateer; 4 brothers: Paul Jr., Herb, Gary, and Clarence (Butch) Swinehart. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be conducted for Ben & MaryEllen together on Saturday, June 3, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan.
